It all began with a mission to use my juicer more and a delicious-sounding watermelon drink recipe.
Recipe: pummel fresh mint and basil with a bit of soda water, add fresh watermelon juice, a bit of lime juice, a sprinkle of sugar, and a bit of tequila if you like.
But then I had leftover watermelon. So ate some. And it was pretty tasty. It sort of tastes like a warm summer evening. And I've figured out why I didn't like watermelon before: because it has to be super ripe. If it's not, it just doesn't taste the same. At all.
Yesterday I took the puggle for a midday walk. It was quite hot, so when we returned, I cut myself a big slice of watermelon. The little dog was begging. So, I gave her a little piece.
And turns out, my dog likes watermelon, too.

I love watermelon, but, like you, only if it's very ripe.
ReplyDeletei haven't had a watermelon yet this year... husband (who drives garbage truck) usually gets some for free from the farmers whose trash he picks up. none yet though. I'm looking forward to it now after looking at all the pictures you shared. :) yum!!
ReplyDeleteI love water melon! Doesn't even have to be super ripe!:) If you want your mix colder, put your watermelon in the freezer for a while, and mix the whole thing :)
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks! It's always a bit sad when summer is over. But I really love the smell of autumn, you know, when the wind carries a scent of apples and leaves and cold!:)
